The original was also already considered to be the most action-focused of the original Playstation 1 trilogy, and as a result the developers added new action-focused gameplay elements, like the emergency evade seen in the Special Developer Message, not present in the previous release in the series, Resident Evil 2 (Remake). As seen in the Special Developer Message, the faster "over-the-shoulder" style of camera and controls from Resident Evil 4 and later games is used as opposed to a static camera and tank controls that led to slower gameplay in the original Resident Evil 3.
